What are Skin Tags?
Approximately 25% of adults have small, benign tumors called skin tags. These flesh-colored growths (also called acrochordon) are harmless and can vary from a bump the size of a pinhead to a small pea. While skin tags don't require medical treatment, you may want them removed if they cause irritation when they rub against clothing. You may also think about having a skin tag treated if it's in a visible place, such as your eyelid, cheek, neck, or hand. If you're concerned about a skin tag, schedule a consultation with seasoned dermatologist Dr Jay Mehta at Arizona Skin Institute in Surprise, AZ, near Phoenix. He can assess your condition and determine whether treatment is necessary.
Skin Tags Reviews
"Dr Jay Mehta is knowledgeable and articulate yet at the same time he has an amazing sense of humor that stills any sort of doubts you would have. I've been to several times before and he has helped me in greatly reducing my acne, chicken skin, and awkward stubborn moles that refused to be burned off. His office is clean and has a welcoming feeling to it. His receptionist Shanon is great. Despite being a relatively young practice it is by far promising. Well versed in the latest procedures and conditions, dr jay Mehta is by far the top choice when it comes to Doctor!!!! I love my dermatologist so much!!!!"- J.S. / Google / Apr 03, 2017
what Causes skin tags?
Tags on the skin are so prevalent that it's reported that 1/4 of adults have them. Skin tags usually grow from friction created by skin rubbing against clothing. They commonly form under the arms, on the chest, eyelids, neck, and in the groin area. In women, skin tags can also grow underneath the breasts. Tags may develop more often if you're obese or as you age. Additionally, hormone fluctuations during pregnancy can also result in skin tags.
skin tag removal
Skin tags often do not require medical treatment, but you may want them removed if they're a cosmetic concern. Tags may get caught on clothing, which can lead to irritation, redness, and even bleeding. You might also want to remove them to improve your appearance if they're on your face or another visible area. To remove a skin tag, Dr Mehta may perform a surface excision. Other options include freezing or burning off the skin tag.
