What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a facial treatment that uses exfoliating solutions to remove old or damaged skin cells to reveal healthier, smoother skin. This skin care therapy is often great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, sun spots, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. A single treatment can help to refresh your skin for a weekend event, or routine sessions can be performed for long-term maintenance. At Arizona Skin Institute, skilled dermatologist Dr Jay Mehta is pleased to offer an extensive collection of chemical peels to local men and women who wish to rejuvenate their appearance. If you live in Surprise or Phoenix, AZ, give our office a call to learn more about chemical peels and how they can help you reach your cosmetic goals.
"I love this place. It is super clean and staff are very versed in all aspects of skin care. I have not been here for awhile as I usually come out to Arizpna for the winter months and have been away but am back now and will be booking appointment right away. This place is so very different than many and do not push things at you. They are 100% professional."- B. / Healthgrades / Jan 08, 2020
"Greeted by a friendly staff :) I was pleased to learn that there was nothing alarming or cancerous after a thorough body check. However, the aging process, as well as many hours in the outdoors were evident! I really appreciated the time Becky spent explaining details about my skin, healthier skincare practices, and product suggestions to improve it - sun block being #1! Dr. Mehta was very pleasant and answered my questions (and fears) about any type of face treatment procedures. I feel very confident having him work on my skin to restore some of its lost glow. I highly recommend the Arizona Skin Institute."- M.A. / Google / Jun 11, 2020

"I visited the Peoria location. The staff is amazing! Everyone is friendly, professional, and very personable. I was having a hard day, not to mention, struggling for some time with some skin issues, and one of my doctors really went the extra mile to cheer me on and show her beautiful loving spirit with a friendly hug and positive, motivating feedback. I was very comfortable engaging with the doctors and asking questions. Having over 10 & 15 years of experience, they were very informative and confident. I really love this place and I recommend it to anyone seeking any areas of dermatology, like skin diseases & conditions, including cosmetic treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, and laser treatments."- M.B. / Google / Mar 03, 2020

types of Chemical Peels
At Arizona Skin Institute, we offer a wide variety of chemical peels in different levels of strength (light, medium, and deep) to meet our patients' skin care needs and goals. Most of these peels contain glycolic, salicylic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids, so it's important to let our team know if you have any allergies or if you've experienced harsh reactions to any of these chemicals in the past. Additionally, since these solutions will cause the skin to peel, some downtime is associated with this treatment. Patients can choose from the following:
- Jan Marini peels
- VI Peels
- Jessner peels
- TCA peels
During your initial consultation, Dr Mehta can talk about the differences between each peel and which one he thinks may be best for your unique concerns and skin care goals.
Is a chemical peel right for me?
A chemical peel is often a great option for people who want to boost the overall health, look, and feel of their skin and is an ideal therapy for those who struggle with rough skin texture, discoloration, acne scarring, sun damage, brown spots, and fine lines. During your first visit, Dr Mehta will perform a thorough skin exam and provide his recommendation on which chemical peel he thinks is most suitable for your goals.
chemical peel treatment
A chemical peel is a simple treatment that we perform at our office in Surprise, AZ. On the day of your appointment, we'll ask that you arrive wearing no makeup. To start, we'll clean your skin to remove any cosmetics, dirt, and oils. Then, we'll gently apply the selected solution to your skin. After a few minutes, we will wash the solution off your face and apply a neutralizing agent. Patients should avoid extended periods of direct sunlight for at least a few days to protect their newly treated skin. Over the next few days, your skin will peel off and reveal a smoother, softer complexion.
