What is an IPL?
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a type of facial treatment that uses broad-spectrum wavelengths of light to target a wide variety of dermal issues. It can help to improve the tone and texture of skin for people who struggle with hyperpigmentation, sun spots, acne, wrinkles, and overly large pores. In addition, IPL can help to treat unwanted spider veins and other vascular lesions. At Arizona Skin Institute, seasoned dermatologist Dr Jay Mehta is pleased to offer IPL with the Alma™ Harmony XL Pro system and Dye-VL handpiece. With IPL, the treated skin will flake off over time to reveal a smoother and more radiant complexion. "I love this place. It is super clean and staff are very versed in all aspects of skin care. I have not been here for awhile as I usually come out to Arizpna for the winter months and have been away but am back now and will be booking appointment right away. This place is so very different than many and do not push things at you. They are 100% professional."- B. / Healthgrades / Jan 08, 2020
"Greeted by a friendly staff :) I was pleased to learn that there was nothing alarming or cancerous after a thorough body check. However, the aging process, as well as many hours in the outdoors were evident! I really appreciated the time Becky spent explaining details about my skin, healthier skincare practices, and product suggestions to improve it - sun block being #1! Dr. Mehta was very pleasant and answered my questions (and fears) about any type of face treatment procedures. I feel very confident having him work on my skin to restore some of its lost glow. I highly recommend the Arizona Skin Institute."- M.A. / Google / Jun 11, 2020

"I visited the Peoria location. The staff is amazing! Everyone is friendly, professional, and very personable. I was having a hard day, not to mention, struggling for some time with some skin issues, and one of my doctors really went the extra mile to cheer me on and show her beautiful loving spirit with a friendly hug and positive, motivating feedback. I was very comfortable engaging with the doctors and asking questions. Having over 10 & 15 years of experience, they were very informative and confident. I really love this place and I recommend it to anyone seeking any areas of dermatology, like skin diseases & conditions, including cosmetic treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, and laser treatments."- M.B. / Google / Mar 03, 2020

Is an ipl right for me?
An IPL treatment reaches the deeper layers of the dermis to help improve various skin concerns and is generally a great option for men and women of all skin types. The best candidates for IPL therapy are those who have sun damage, acne, rosacea, brown spots, age spots, redness, rough skin texture, large pores, freckles, melasma, broken capillaries, or spider veins. During your initial consultation, Dr Mehta can discuss your specific goals and assess your complexion to determine whether IPL is right for you.
IPL treatments are performed on-site at our skin care practice and typically take about 20 – 30 minutes to complete. To start, one of our seasoned technicians will wash and dry your skin before covering your eyes with protective goggles. Then, they will pass the Dye-VL handpiece over your skin as it emits pulses of light energy to target the deep layers of your dermis. While patients may experience some discomfort during the procedure, most find it tolerable given the fast treatment time. Once your session is complete, you will be free to go home.
If over-the-counter skin care products are not providing the significant improvements you desire, contact Arizona Skin Institute in Surprise, AZ to learn more about intense pulsed light therapy.
